Still Life Paintings

Still life paintings provide an opportunity to concentrate on technique and colour, but also raise questions of composition and degree of finish or detail. Without the inherent time constraints of life study and portraiture, they ask the question ‘when is it finished?’ so they raise a new kind of problem for the painter.

I have found that reflective and transparent materials are stimulating subjects, adding to my sculptural concern with three-dimensional form.
