Fliss Watts, Artist.
Welcome to my website.
I studied sculpture at the City and Guilds of London School of Art. The course gave ample opportunity to study the human figure, developing drawing and modelling skills as well as sculptural techniques, including mould-making, casting, working directly in materials such as stone, steel and plaster.
My work includes public art projects, such as ‘High Spen Heroes’, a World War I memorial combining bronze, cast stone and steel at High Spen, Gateshead, and private commissions, such as a bronze portrait bust of Ebenezer Howard, in Letchworth.
In recent years I have focused on painting in oils and acrylics, as well as printmaking, producing lino prints and etchings.
Portraiture is a recurring theme of my artistic practice – both in sculpture and in painting and drawing. For examples of portraits and information about commissioning a portrait, see Portraits.
